Hello My Amazing Artists!

Week two is complete. We are finally finished with rules, procedures and remembering where things are in the Art Room. This week we completed a mini-project using Peter H. Reynolds's book: Say Something. The book is about the importance of using your voice, to say something: with words, with actions, and with creativity. It could be to inspire, to share or to change the world!

I encouraged the students to use their voice in a speech bubble - using words or pictures.

Welcome Back

Hello My Amazing Artists!

I am busy, busy, busy, getting ready for you all to return. The room is coming together, supplies are rolling in and ideas are overflowing.

This year I am especially interested in developing an "ARTitude". A mentality that learning takes courage and resilience. I think the idea of being "creative" or "artistic" can be overwhelming for some and that if we shift to think about art as exploring and discovering, we might open opportunities for FUN.

 I'm hoping all the artists in my room will work hard together. See you soon. 

3rd Grade String Art

The 3rd graders finished these cool string art projects. They love working with their hands and weaving. We had a great discussion about what students liked, might change and how they felt about the multi-colored string vs. plain string.
