Hello My Amazing Artists!
Kindergarten finished up these amazing self portraits. We used the author/illustrator Todd Parr as inspiration. The students had to create the background by placing and wetting down bleeding tissue paper. We then talked about what makes up a face while looking in mirrors to draw their faces. Next they applied glue to the edges and pressed down to make sure it stuck.

1st Grade Coffee Filter Snowmen
Hello My Amazing Artists!
Before Thanksgiving break 1st graders explored color mixing by coloring with markers onto coffee filters and spritzing with water. We saved the results, although I wasn't sure what we'd do with them. They were perfect for these snowmen scenes. We talked about overlapping. Worked on tracing and cutting, and, of course, as always - adding details to make it interesting.

5th Grade Superheroes
Hello My Amazing Artists!
5th grade finished these chalk skyline silhouettes. My intention was to have them create a superhero self portrait - however some felt their inner villain would be more fun.
